Of Scribbled Notes And Teleprompters

Over on A Tangled Web, Patty writes about Press Secretary Robert Gibbs mocking Sarah Palin for making a note on the palm of her hand for a recent speech...by writing "Hope" and "Change" on his own hand. The irony of Gibbs working for a man who needed a teleprompter to speak at a local school seems to have eluded him, as did the fact that he spelt "Hoax" incorrectly.
As Patty notes, Unfortunately for Gibbs, President Obama had just finished speaking from the same podium about the need for bipartisanship, and the need to "transcend petty politics." Gibbs' joke received groans.

Although it is cruel to mock Vice President Joe Biden's well known senility, Gibbs was also unaware, it seems, of Biden's recent similar use of an aide-memoire.

And of course, the same trick as used by TheOne - who has a teleprompter with its very own blog.

And rising serenely above the misogynystic nonsense the ever-unflappable Sarah Palin (genuinely, here) wrote a note on her hand when out campaigning for Gov Rick Perry of Texas today saying...Hi Mom. The Left went in to hissy spitting fits of rage.

That's a definite score for the Saracuda. Go Sarah 2012!

THOUGHT CRIME IS NO CRIME, RIGHT?

I see that the Scottish judiciary have shown their mercy by ensuring that a student branded a “wannabe suicide bomber” has walked free after having a terrorism conviction quashed by appeal court judges.

Mohammed Atif Siddique said he should not have been jailed for “thought crime” and never had the intention of using terrorist materials he had accumulated to hurt anyone. Prosecutors confirmed the 24-year-old, who was Scotland’s first man found guilty of being an Islamist terrorist, will not face a retrial.
I am sure his fellow Islamists will get the message, aren't you?

DAME VERA WEIGHS IN...

Story Image You may have read that McDoom plans to sell of the port of Dover. To the French, actually. Glad to see that Dame Vera Lynn has weighed in on this SHAMEFUL move by Labour.

DAME VERA LYNN is urging officials to rethink plans to sell the Port of Dover to foreign investors, insisting it's a part of history. A spokesperson for the Port of Dover has denied reports the area itself will be sold to owners of the Port of Calais, in France, but admitted the ferrying business is to be offered for purchase. And the White Cliffs of Dover hitmaker is heartbroken by the prospect. She says, "I would feel very differently about it. The port should absolutely stay in British hands. It always has been and it should always be. It means so much to the boys who have sailed away from it and come back. "How could they even think about selling it off? It is not right. Dover is part of England. It simply can't be part of anywhere else."
The answer is because they HATE our history, our values, our traditions.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS MUST STAY?

So, who agrees with the author of this article that illegal immigrants to the UK should be allowed to stay?.

The argument proposed has four elements; 1/ They are here to stay so we may as well accept them. 2/It is mostly a London problem and London tends to welcome immigrants anyway. 3. Long term illegal immigrants can make a positive financial contribution and finally, 4/ Long term illegals could make good citizens.

I disagree on every point. For starters, IF we accept law-breakers, why bother having a law? Next, it is NOT just a London problem and even so, I am sick of the way in which our Capital city has become un-British through the tsunami of illegals. 3/ They can also be a long term drain on finances and 4/ They could. But then again, unless they embrace British values, they might not.

THE DRUID APOLOGISES

Can someone tell me what is the POINT of Druid Williams aka The Archbishop of Canterbury? I see that this bearded fool has issued a “profound apology” to the lesbian and gay Christian community today. Why? It's not HIS job to go around apologising to whichever sexual interest grouping he find most guilty about. Williams is a wretched fool and a disgrace to the office he holds.

PALIN UNDER PRESSURE?

Sarah Palin
I notice that The Times has been running character assassination pieces on Sarah Palin. The latest drivel from Allen-Mills is here, but if you're bored you can also check out this as well. What is it about Palin that drives the imagined sophisticates at The Times so crazy? I wish the UK had a Palin-esque figure and she continues to be my hope for the Presidency in 2012!

SO WHAT DOES A GRECIAN EARN?

...Not a lot is the answer if Greece is to survive as a functioning economy! Comes the news today that the Euro continues to fall in value as the money markets are spooked by the news that Greece may need to turn to the IMF or EU for a bail-out. Then, if Greece gets such a hand-out today, how about Spain and Portugal tomorrow? Then there is Italy, and Ireland.....oh dear, the Eurorouble is in trouble. Thank goodness the UK did not join this dysfunctional currency, even IF wise old cove Ken Clark told us otherwise!

GYPSIES, TRAMPS AND THIEVES...

I think it is a scandal that cash-strapped councils across the UK are being bullied into creating gypsy campsites that no one wants – not even the travellers.
The claim has been made as town halls face a multi-million pound bill to develop an extra 7,500 sites for “gypsies, travellers and travelling showpeople” in line with new housing laws. Government figures show the number of traveller caravans in England grew by more than 1,200 in the past two years to 17,900, an eight per cent rise.
Why are we spending any money on such "facilities"? If some people choose a nomadic lifestyle, that's their decision, I fail to see why it should become MY cost! Do you?

SHE'S A LADY?

Ok, so who all agrees that Cherie Blair, the wicked witch of the West, should be elevated to the House of Lords?

A political row is brewing over a controversial move to give Cherie Blair a peerage – making her the first Prime Minister’s spouse to be elevated to the Lords since Clementine Churchill. Allies of Mrs Blair say she is entitled to the honour on the basis of her decade in No10, her record as a leading lawyer and her charity work. However, the idea, which is being actively discussed in senior Labour circles, is likely to run into criticism from those who may question whether she deserves the same recognition as Lady Churchill.

I must say that I think she deserves no such honour. It is because of Cherie Blair and her ilk that our country is in such peril and to reward her by placing her in the Lords would be as lunatic an idea as rewarding Micheal Martin - that most disgraced of Speakers - by putting him in the Lords. Oh...hang on a second....

ABOVE THE LAW?

Left to right: Jim Devine, Eliot Morley, David Chaytor and Lord Hanningfield
Wonder what you make of the efforts of the three Labour MPs charged yesterday with theft over fraudulent expense claims who now say they are above the law and will fight attempts to put them on trial.

Elliot Morley, David Chaytor and Jim Devine each face up to seven years in jail after Keir Starmer, QC, the Director of Public Prosecutions, announced that he was charging them under the Theft Act 1968. Lord Hanningfield, the Tory frontbencher and leader of Essex County Council, faces six charges over his expense claims. In a joint statement, the three MPs announced that they would fight the charges by claiming parliamentary privilege over their expense claims. It said: “We maintain that this is an issue that should be resolved by the parliamentary commissioner, who is there to enforce any breach of the rules.”
Some might think the right solution here is a gallows on the green at Westminster. The arrogance of these three Labour MP's is unbelievable but in one way perhaps they represent a majority of those who sit in the Palace of Westminster - those who are the servants of the people but who think they are our masters.

MUSLIM MODERATION...

It's horrific.

A 16-year-old Turkish girl died after being buried alive under a chicken coop by relatives because she talked to boys. The body of Medine Memi was found in a sitting position with her hands tied in a 6ft hole dug in the courtyard of her family's home in Kahta, south-eastern Turkey, 40 days after she had been reported missing. The hole had been cemented over. The teenager had a large amount of soil in her lungs and stomach - showing she suffered a slow and agonising death.
A religion? No. A grotesque pathology! God bless the soul of this poor girl - one more victim of Islam.

ON THE RUN...

Wonder what you make of the news that local government little Hitler's have agreed to pay compensation to a jogger who spent 17 hours locked in a freezing public toilet on Christmas Day?

With only his running gear to keep him warm, the runner was forced to wrap himself in bin liner and toilet roll and spent the night underneath a hand-dryer to save off the cold. The man, who was captured on CCTV footage, used the Dulwich Park lavatories at 4.30pm on Christmas Eve after going for a run.

He was accidentally locked in by the janitor, poor chap! Moral of the story? Exercise is bad for you!

PRINCE OF WAILS.....

Did you see that royal eco-loon Prince Charles has labelled those who remain healthily sceptical of AGW as "all liars". Showing his instinctive and easy grasp of the science, the heir to the throne claimed...

“Well, if it is but a myth, and the global scientific community is involved in some sort of conspiracy, why is it then that around the globe sea levels are more than six inches higher than they were 100 years ago? “This isn’t an opinion - it is a fact.”
Erm, well no. It's not a fact.

BARKING....

What do you make of the news that a police chief criticised by a judge for failing to attend a 999 call said today police could not attend every emergency call - and most people did not expect them to.

Julie Spence, Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire Police, said Judge Sean Enright's complaint gave her a chance to 'inject a note of realism' into the perception of policing. But on the upside, even though answering 999 calls is not a priority, the same force operates "dog blogs". I suppose this is called taking the ruff with the smooth?
Can we just abolish the police if this is going to be the attitude?

MEIN KAMPF UPDATED

The All Seeing Eye will be away from these parts for the best part of the next week so I am afraid you will have to endure my musings in the interim!

Did you see that modern progressive Germany is....erm.....reprinting Mein Kampf?

Under the post-1945 German constitution, the dissemination of Nazi philosophy has been a crime punishable by fines and imprisonment. But the copyright, held by the state of Bavaria where the Nazi movement began life in the 1920s, expires in 2015, 70 years after the death of its author in his Berlin bunker. On Thursday the Munich-based Institute of Contemporary History (IfZ) pledged to publish an "annotated version" with historical notes that it hopes will see the book used in schools and colleges.
Wonder what the annotation will provide? Is this a healthy sign that Germany has come to terms with the Nazi era, or is it a portent of a more ominous situation developing there?

White Children Not Welcome

In a marvellous bit of racism, Bill Gates has set up a scholarship fund, but has made white teenagers ineligible to apply. The Gates Millennium Scholarship fund is financed by a $1 Billion endowment which Bill Gates made in 1999, however:

“Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they: Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian and Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American;”

Everyone else, it seems, will have to wait for a Whites Only scholarship...and the lawsuits that would entail. Surely this has to be illegal somehow?

TreeGate

From the excellent Daily Mash, hitting the nail on the head as usual:

TREES will not uproot themselves and embark on blood-soaked killing sprees by 2035, global warming experts have admitted.

The International Panel on Climate Change confirmed the evidence had not been peer-reviewed and will now amend the section of its 2007 report devoted to 'killer trees'.

A spokesman said: "It appears the claim was not based on new data or field research but on that bit with the angry, talking trees in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

"We're reviewing our procedures to determine how it made it into the final draft, though someone should probably have noticed the vivid description of the attack on Saruman's underground orc factory.

"There is a supplementary source, and yes it is that bit with the angry, talking trees in The Wizard of Oz.

"We still think there's a strong chance that trees will become sentient and take revenge on man for chopping down all their friends and turning them into spatulas, we're just not sure when."

The killer tree scandal is the latest embarrassment for the IPCC which has also been forced to withdraw claims that global warming will cause elephants to grow to more than 200ft tall and develop an extra pair of massive tusks after sceptics pointed out it was obviously from Lord of The Rings: The Return of the King.

The spokesman added: "You have to understand that for committed environmentalists, The Lord of the Rings is very, very special.

"Many of them think it's a documentary and one of them - I'm not mentioning any names but it's George Monbiot - actually thinks he's Samwise Gamgee."

The Daily Mash is always worth a browse.

The Resolute Desk

For more than a century, nearly every American President has used a splendid desk that, in another life, sailed the seas.

H.M.S. Resolute was commanded by Admiral Sir Edward Belcher during his search for the Northwest Passage. Sent to find missing Arctic explorers, it was abandoned by its crew in 1852. American whalers later discovered the ship, and it was purchased, fitted, and restored by the American government and sent to Queen Victoria as a gift from the President and the American people. When the ship was finally broken up, her timbers were carved into the elaborate desk, then presented to President Rutherford Hayes by Queen Victoria in 1879 as a token of friendship and goodwill. American Presidents have conducted the country's business across the Resolute Desk ever since.

Every President since Hayes, except Presidents Johnson, Nixon and Ford, has used it, and it remains unchanged from the original except for the addition of the central panel, carved with the Presidential Seal, ordered by President Franklin Roosevelt to conceal his leg braces from view.

So, Barry, get your bloody feet off it you tosser.

Lone Star Parson

TheEye has linked for quite a while now to the Lone Star Parson, a "Brit Anglican priest in rural Texas getting into the country life". It's a cracking good read and about as far from Cranmer as you could imagine...his latest post begins "I know this blog's been a frivolous mix of aliens, guns, boots and horses recently, so here's a bit on St. Thomas Aquinas to even things out" which pretty much sets the tone of the place.

So what might his sermons be like? Well, certainly nothing like the ones this scribbler in The Times is familiar with:

Real men don't like going to church because they don't want to "sing love songs to a man", because the "vicar wears a dress", because they feel like "mongrels on parade at Crufts"...The image of church is 'women and children' - action songs or kid's plays just emphasise this.... Men don't want to feel brainwashed by reciting words that they don't believe... The problem has become male culture versus church culture. Too many sermons talk about Jesus’ love, compassion and grace which are great but not male concepts. Men want to know about his great decision making and leadership. That is what they recognise. Churches are very pastorally driven whereas blokes are looking for decisions not discussions.

For a dose of religion as it should be, go check out the LSP's guns, aliens and healthy attitude to American politics...
